GN Espace, specialist manufacturer of high quality cookers and galley systems, has seen business boom since the beginning of 2021 with a revenue increase of 88% compared to the same period to September 2020. The company also reports a very healthy order book looking forward.
The boost in sales has largely been a result of the move by GN Espace to develop a new range of energy saving electric induction cookers. “Amongst the big name boatbuilders there is a need to reduce the carbon footprint, and this is a driving force of the buoyant selling period that we are currently experiencing”, comments Director Ralph Olingschlaeger.
The company, which manufactures its own product range in the UK has been a major supplier of LPG gas cookers, ovens and hobs, since 2007, supplying OEM customers and superyacht projects around the world. More recently GN Espace, which employs a team of seven at its factory in Widford, Hertfordshire, started to extend into the energy efficient products, including three electric induction models this year alone, offering size and feature choices aimed at the sailing, motorboat and superyacht sectors
Each model has an integrated hob energy management system, designed to give optimum performance whilst conserving consumption. The largest in the range, the new OceanChef XL, for example, is limited to 8.5kW, 25% less than an equivalent domestic four-zone induction hob and electric oven which, until now, has typically been installed on larger sailing yachts. Olingschlaeger explains: “Our induction hobs offer 97% energy efficiency, compared to 40-60% for LPG. Our ovens also achieve a 50% energy saving.”
High end quality boat marques including Oyster, Amel, Allures, Contest, Swan and X-Yachts are fitting GN Espace cookers as well as the sinks and accessories produced by the company and its partners.
“We view galleys on yachts as important test beds for the development of energy savings appliances given the often intermittent or low power supplies at sea, without compromise to cooking performance” concludes Olingschlaeger. “Our efforts are redoubled given the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions in the environment.“
GN Espace is expecting continued turnover growth for the next 12 months with the addition of further induction electric models.
